What they say

There are loads of great reasons to bring your conference, meeting or event to Brighton. But you don't have to take our word for it!

Find out who’s coming to the city and what they say below...

Prof Roger Moore - Interspeech Annual Conference – Brighton 2009

'The city of Brighton & Hove provided a fantastic location for our Annual Interspeech Conference that brought together both national and international members of the speech science and technology research community.

Brighton - great location, with excellent rail and road access

With Brighton’s great location, the ease of access from the major airports combined with excellent rail, road and coach routes really gave our delegates coming to the conference a stress free journey.

Our main conference venue, the Brighton Centre offered us excellent facilities, notably the Hewison Hall with a plentiful supply of natural daylight, providing a perfect setting for our poster boards.

My thanks go to Judith Sturges of VisitBrighton who provided a friendly and professional service from start to finish and gave me excellent support and the in-depth local knowledge that helped me piece together the social element of our conference.

Free wi-fi along beach combined with cosmopolitan atmosphere

Finally, we were blessed with fine weather and were able to take full advantage of the free wi-fi provided on the beach and soak up the ambience of this cosmopolitan city in many of its bars and restaurants.

The Annual Interspeech Conference travels the world and I am was very pleased that in Brighton & Hove, we had a UK destination that helped usdeliver a fantastic conference to all that attended.'

Soroptomist GBI Conference

Brighton has secured a £4m international conference aimed at high-flying women. The Soroptimist International GBI conference is scheduled for 25-30 October 2011.  The organisation works to enhance the status and human rights of woman worldwide.

‘Soroptimist’ comes from the Latin words soror meaning sister and optima meaning best.

From the Grand Hotel to the Brighton Dome and Hilton Metropole

Around 2000 delegates, mainly female managers, will attend. Pre-conference meetings will take place at the The Grand Hotel with the main conference at the Dome and a gala dinner at the Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel.

Cabinet councillor for culture David Smith said:

'We’re very excited to have been chosen to host such a prestigious event which will undoubtedly garner a huge amount of press coverage.  It is such a unique event, comprising almost entirely female delegates.

“It’s particularly welcome news during the recession and shows how we’re working all the time behind the scenes to help local businesses and generate work.'
