About

Cup of Joe is a stylistic and unusual cafe located in the vintage antique market Kemptown Trading Post. It is designed to be a chilled out place where you can listen to some music, work on your laptop or just enjoy some very good quality coffee, as well as sample the large selection of Nova Teas and English cakes.

The food is a collaboration of traditional English breakfast, eggs Benedict, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and alternative healthy choices such as poached egg and avocado on sour dough or a variety of fresh seasonal salads. As Georges is of French heritage, you will also have the opportunity to sample some French classics such as Croque-Monsieur or Croque-Madame. There is no doubt that you will find something to suit your tastes and palette!

Fast becoming the place to be during the day in trendy Kemptown, feel free to bring along your four legged friends and with the most welcoming and charming Georges greeting you with his good humour and smile, you’ll be sure to come back again and again!

Background

Georges has worked in the food & beverage industry for the last 25 years, starting in the South of France before moving to London, where he worked at ‘Le Suquet’ on Draycott Avenue amongst many others. He opened his own French restaurant in Clapham called ‘Brasserie Metz’, which was reminiscent of his French home town. Georges finally sold his restaurant to move to Brighton and help his partner Hervé Guyat open the New Steine Hotel on the New Steine Square in Brighton. Once settled, he further developed his career at the Seattle hotel & MyHotel, before opening his own business once again – ‘Cup of Joe’ Café.

At Cup of Joe, Georges has introduced his delicious salads and healthy food options, as well as fresh and comforting classics like Eggs Benedict, Florentine and a traditional English breakfast. Alongside these there are French inspired treats such as his amazing Croque-Monsieur and Goat’s Cheese toast.

His coffee is Verona Espresso Blend and you can also enjoy a wide selection of afternoon teas, whilst indulging in some classic English cakes like Victoria sponge, carrot, coffee and walnut cakes. And everyone is welcome – including your four legged friends!
