Your Quality Assurance
When you're looking for a place to stay, you need a rating system you can trust. Which is why VisitBrighton only works with Brighton hotel accommodation that has been rated under VisitBritain’s National Quality Assurance Standards. Wherever you see the Enjoy England Quality Rose, or the AA sign, this means the accommodation has been rated.
All stars
All accommodation is now being rated nationally by stars. There are nine main accommodation types, or designations, and a rating of 1 to 5 stars. So, for a hotel awarded 3 stars the rating will be 3* Hotel and for a guest house with 4 stars, the rating will be 4* Guest Accommodation. All remaining ratings previously based on diamonds will be phased out and, by the end of 2007, replaced with stars.
We want you to get the most out of your stay, so to help you choose the accommodation you want, here’s a summary of the rating system:
Accommodation types (Sectors)
Hotels (1-5 stars)
Budget Hotels (no star ratings)
Guest Accommodation (1-5 diamonds moving to 1-5 stars through 2006)
Campus (1-5 stars)
Hostels (1-5 stars)
Self Catering (1-5 stars)

Holiday Parks (1-5 stars)
Star ratings made easy:
1 star – simple, practical, no frills

4 stars – excellent standard throughout
5 stars – exceptional with a degree of luxury
