By Foot is the best way...

People walking in Brighton.

Brighton is very compact and most places are within walking distance. The rail station is only 10 minutes from the city centre and the sea is a stone's throw from the city's main attractions, shops, eateries and entertainment.

Its really easy to find your around Brighton & Hove with one of our easy-to-use Brighton maps.

We've also got some great Brighton walking tours so you can easily check out the city sights on foot.

Think of your safety
Although Brighton is a compact, safe place to walk on foot, please remember to concentrate when crossing the road:

  • Find somewhere safe to cross, for example, a pedestrian crossing*
  • 'Stop and look' before you step off the pavement
  • Look in all directions, as traffic can come from all directions.

*When using a pedestrian crossing, only cross when the green man shows. When the red man shows, do not cross.

When the green man signal begins to flash at a pelican crossing, do not cross. Press the button and wait until the sequence begins again. For more road safety information, visit www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/roadsafety.
