POSSIBLE PICKUPS…

QB Jake Delhomme

What Jake is doing in Carolina this year should come as no surprise. Back in May, in our 2007 Road Map Schedule Article we told you, “The Carolina Panthers should be able to pile on fantasy points the first two weeks facing the Rams and Texans. In fact, Carolina won’t play a 4for4.com Top-15 rated defense until week 11. If you draft Jake Delhomme and he’s really kicking it in week ten after games against the Falcons and Titans, consider trading Jake and demand plenty in return. You might be able to pull a classic sell-high move.” If you can still pick up Jake, do it.

QB Matt Schaub
Numbers don’t lie and Schaub has the Texans moving the ball. His Yards per Attempt stats look excellent and of all the stats, this is one of the best leading predictors you’ll ever find.

QB Derek Anderson

Big and strong, Anderson undoubtedly has the physical tools needed. Anderson reminds us of a young Drew Bledsoe. This youngster could be the sleeper pick of the year. With all the attention going to Frye and Brady Quinn, Anderson has taken a major step up this year and he’s only going to get better with time. The question is, with more film, will DC’s around the league see flaws with his game. While Anderson remains an iffy pick, if you have room and would like to take a flyer on a QB, here is your man.

QB David Garrard

We’ve had him in this space and as a weekly bargain as well. Garrard should only improve as the season grinds on and he can help you with his arm and legs.

QB Jeff Garcia

Underrated and gritty, Garcia will have several decent games this year. Tampa Bay’s schedule looks much easier in 2007 than it was in 2006.

RB Derrick Ward
As we said in this space last week, he continues to show us a nice first step. The Giants have always been high on Ward but his nagging injuries have always held him back. This is clearly his chance and the door is wide open.

RB Kevin Jones
In some leagues, he’s still on the waiver wire. Grab him now.

RB Sammy Morris
He’s one injury away from being a Fantasy Football hammer in NE’s offense. Even with Laurence Maroney 100% healthy, Morris looks like he’s going to get 10-15 touches per game.

RB Najeh Davenport
Davenport told us last week he’s going in on almost all 3rd down situations. Plus, he’s one injury away from being a top-15 RB.

RB Selvin Young
Sometimes buzz is just that, but Denver really does seem to like this guy. In key plays in Week #2 they called his number. We like his speed and ability once he gets into open space. Young is another potential hammer waiting to happen should Travis Henry get hurt.

RB DeShawn Wynn
The rookie impressed the coaching staff with his effort against the Giants. He’s worth a flyer even with Vernand Morency coming back soon.

WR Wes Welker
Tom Brady and the Pats clearly value Welker and you should too, especially if you get points per reception. As an excellent slot receiver, Welker is a perfect fit for New England’s possession passing system.

WR Brandon Marshall
Denver has a textbook offense and Marshall will see plenty of man coverage this year. His stock is on the rise.

WR Marty Booker
A journeyman receiver but should be active and has a few easy matchups coming up.

WR Amani Toomer
If you really need to reach, give the Giants #2 WR a look. The Giants will need to pass plenty this year and Toomer is often in man coverage.

K Jason Hanson
For years he’s been one of the most underrated players in the NFL. Detroit’s offense is improving and he’ll get plenty of chances.

K Jeff Reed
He’s off to a great start and Pittsburgh’s new offense looks for real.

K Nick Folk
As we told you in the preseason, having the Dallas kicker is a good thing.

K Lawrence Tynes
Young kicker with a decent leg. Has attempted six FGs in two games this year.
