ARTISTS OPEN HOUSES AT CHRISTMAS:
DISCOVER A RELAXED WAY TO SHOP FOR UNIQUE GIFTS
Experience Christmas shopping as it should be. Avoid the queues, hordes of frustrated shoppers and tinny carols by shopping at the Artists Open Houses this year. Open for the first two weekends in December (6-7th and 13-14th) the houses offer an exceptional mix of art and handmade goods, ideal for picking up that unique gift.
This year is the biggest yet, with over seventy houses crammed with all kinds of unusual, beautiful gifts. As well as paintings and sculpture, most houses offer a wide range of ceramics, jewellery, textiles, lighting, furnishings, cards and a variety of Christmas decorations. In many houses you can browse whilst sipping mulled wine and eating homemade festive fare – guaranteed to bring a little Christmas cheer.
As many of the houses are clustered together it is easy to spend an enjoyable afternoon visiting them. At many of the houses you can chat to the artists and makers about their work, and, when you find you’re looking for, you can buy direct from the artist.
Judy Stevens, Festival Co-ordinator, Christmas Artists Open Houses said: “We are delighted that the Christmas Open Houses will be bigger than ever this year. With so many artists and makers taking part, visitors should be able fulfill all their Christmas shopping needs - though it may be hard for them to part with their gifts.”
For details on the artists and items available in each house pick up a brochure from locations around Brighton or visit the website - www.aoh.org.uk. With so many talented artists and makers in Brighton there really is something for everyone!
The Artists Open Houses are open on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th and Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th December. Most houses are open between 12-6pm but times may vary so check the brochure or website for full details.
