Loo of the Year Award logo.If you need to spend a penny, why not come to Brighton - we've officially got the best loos in England!

Best public toilets in England
Toilet attendants and cleaners in Brighton and Hove are the best in England, and only second to the Scottish Highlands in the whole of the UK, according to the UK Premier League of Local Authority toilets.

The awards, released shortly before Christmas, saw Brighton win 27 awards overall, two more than last year.

5 star loos
The top mark of 5 stars went to the public toilets on the Western Esplanade, whilst 17 other toilets received 4 stars. These included toilets in Blaker's Park, Lower Promenade at West Street and the Colonnade, Hove's Grenadier and Queen's Park platy area.

Accessible toilets
Ongoing work to improve Brighton toilet facilities in 2007 included renewing all signage to meet RNIB guidelines and the use of tactile signs with Braille, as well as other continuing accessibility work.

The Loo of the Year Awards are run independently by the British Toilet Association.
