The latest on the new King Alfred project predicts work may begin as early as February 2009.
£290 million development
The £290 million development has been designed by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry. Gehry's best known works include the titanium-covered Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles and the Dancing House in Prague.
751 new homes
The Brighton and Hove King Alfred project is set to feature 751 homes in 11 buildings, including two towers of up to 98 metres in height, a £49 million sports centre, small shops, a police office, a GPs' surgery, cafes, restaurants and public spaces. It promises to add an impressive addition to the seafront area of Hove.
Once the final designs have been agreed, it is expected that work will commence next February.
