Big Brighton Switch Off

A photo of a light bulb.Join VisitBrighton, Zoe Ball and Fatboy for Lights Out Sussex and help do your bit to save energy.

Help save energy
On Saturday, March 29, between 8pm and 9pm, 'Lights Out Sussex' will see darkness fall over the county, with Sussex switching off all non-essential lights and appliances.

Regional radio station, Southern FM, has launched the campaign, which aims to get homes and businesses across Sussex to think carefully about the energy they're wasting by keeping lights switched on.

Why turn out the lights?
It's estimated that Sussex generates 8,849,000 kg of carbon emissions each year. That's the equivalent of filling 50,000 double decker buses or nearly 320 million party balloons!

Reduce waste and save money
So, why not do your bit for the environment and switch off your lights for an hour? It won't cost a penny and by remembering to switch lights off when you leave a room and not keeping appliances on standby, you'll not only help the environment by reducing waste, you'll also save some money too.
