1-23 May 2010
'Brighton is the defining moment in the festival year' Guardian Guide

The 44th Brighton Festival erupts onto the arts calendar this May (1-23) heralding the arrival of internationally celebrated artist, cultural thinker and producer Brian Eno, as Guest Artistic Director.
His influence will be felt across the Festival weaving a thread through the genres of theatre, dance, books and debate, music and outdoor events.
Highlighted Brian Eno events include:
- 77 Million Paintings - a constantly evolving sound and image-scape born from continuous exploration into light as an artist’s medium and the aesthetic possibilities of generative systems.
- an exclusive sound installation that will be mounted in various public locations across the city.
- contemporary ensemble Icebreaker performing a music arrangement of the 1983 album Apollo (Atmospheres & Soundtracks) by Eno, live to the film of the original NASA footage of the Apollo moon landing.
Across the rest of the programme there are a host of innovative commissions and site-specific productions from leading artists.
