Brighton and Hove Shopmobility
Brighton & Hove Shopmobility is a scheme that provides electric scooters, and manual and powered wheelchairs, to members of the public with mobility issues.
The scheme is run by the award winning Federation of Disabled People and enables people with mobility issues to have the freedom to travel anywhere within the Brighton & Hove area.
How does Shopmobility work?
You simply need to complete a registration form at the Shopmobility Centre and provide 2 forms of identification, which include your name and address. The scooters are easy to operate and staff will provide training on your first visit.
How much does Shopmobility cost?
Member fees
Annual membership costs £20 a year. Member hire charges are as follows:
- FREE day hire
- £5 per day for long term hires
- No charge for weekends
Non member fees
Fees for non members are as follows:
- Donation fee from £5 for day hires
- £10 per day for long term hires
Delivery and collection fees
- £5 for all customers who wish to have their scooter delivered to or collected from outside Churchill Square.
Deposits
- £50 deposit for a weeks hire
- £100 deposit for 2 weeks hire
All scooters must be returned after 2 weeks.
Long term hires
Please speak to a member of staff if you wish to hire for longer than 2 weeks. All long term hires must be booked in advance so there is enough time to send and receive paper work, payment and the deposit, before the hire is due.
Please note, all private addresses must also be approved, for access and safe storage, before a hire is confirmed.
