Description

Wild Planet features images from Wildlife Photographer of the Year, which is owned by the Natural History Museum, London and BBC Wildlife Magazine.

The wildest landscapes and most endangered species will be showcased in Brighton in March with an exciting new outdoor touring exhibition, developed by the Natural History Museum, London. Taking place from 12 March on the promenade between Brighton’s two piers, Wild Planet will be free for all to attend, bringing the highest standard of international wildlife photography to the city in conjunction with Brighton and Hove City Council.

Wild Planet will feature 80 of the most spectacular images taken from Wildlife Photographer of the Year – the world’s most prestigious wildlife photography competition and an international leader in providing new insights into the natural world. The special selection of past award-winning and commended competition images are captioned with the story of how they were taken, alongside insights into the species captured on film, inspiring and educating a new generation of wildlife photographers and nature enthusiasts.

Displayed outside, on a large scale, the dramatic images will be available to enjoy throughout the day and will be illuminated by night for people to view while taking an evening stroll along the promenade. Among the remarkable set of images is James Warwick’s evocative shot Starling flock above West Pier, which captures one of the city’s most stunning sights as a swarm of thousands of birds come to roost on the much loved Regency pier.

The Wild Planet experience will continue with a designated retail store located on the promenade opposite East Street, offering a unique collection of beautifully designed gifts, home ware and memorabilia, each inspired by the exhibition images. Among the selection available will be Wild Planet, Celebrating Wildlife Photographer of the Year, a commemorative book named after the touring exhibition, featuring all 80 of the arresting images visitors can see on display.

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition is owned by the Natural History Museum, London and BBC Wildlife Magazine. Each year, the best of the entries are showcased in a highly popular exhibition at the Natural History Museum in London before touring regionally and internationally.
