lerato in food marketJoin pioneering African chef and cookery writer Lerato Umah-Shaylor as she guides you on an African culinary adventure, one dish at a time. In this masterclass, you will escape to the East African coast of Kenya & Zanzibar as you cook a sumptuous fish curry with the Indian and East Asian spices that are embedded in the cuisine of the region – and learn to brew the most indulgent Chai enjoyed alongside chai spiced snacks.

You will typically prepare a varied menu including dishes such as:

– East African Fish Curry & Coconut Rice

– Kachumbari with Pickled Onions

– Kenyan Chai & snacks

The class is great for cooks of all levels, from beginners to experts, leaving you inspired to add African vibrancy into your cooking. Guests are encouraged to make each dish their own taste, and Lerato will guide you through customising your dish with unique ingredients you may already have at home.

Previous participants said: “Brilliant course! Lerato is a fantastic tutor.” “I will try all of the new recipes, haven’t cooked west African before.”
