About

We opened the doors to Rising Tide back in March, serving delicious skylark coffee. Skylark are a local roastery and charity that falls under the OneChurch umbrella. They source and roast exquisite specialty coffee, paying double the fair trade price and pay an extra £1 per kilo to local and global empowerment and conservation projects. Not only is the coffee delicious, but it tastes even better knowing we are supporting an incredible project with great people.

If coffee isn’t for you, we’ve also got a great selection of hot and cold drinks as well as freshly baked pastries and veggie and vegan toasties!

As a social enterprise we want to focus on supporting local businesses and giving back to our supply chain, whilst also offering the local community a welcoming social space. All our decisions are made through the lens of their environmental, social and economic impact- right from the suppliers we choose to work with, food we sell and projects we want to give back to.

A main aim is to support fair and equal farming, readjusting the power dynamics currently at play within the coffee industry. As such we have chosen to support Konojel, a community project in Guatemala - a country where coffee is a leading agroexport and place that experiences extreme poverty and malnutrition. The project is a not-for-profit organisation with a mission to reduce chronic malnutrition and endemic poverty through programs targeting nutrition, education and empowerment.

These last few years have really shown us the need for community and regular connections. Therefore, we want Rising Tide to be a social hub where everyone is welcome! The bright and playful colours within our interior and branding accentuates this, along with the selection of games that we welcome our customers to play and have some fun!
