Paxton+Glew are a contemporary and urban gallery situated in Hanningtons Lane, just opposite Flint House. Selling original artworks, limited edition prints and sculpture, the shop is a one-stop-shop for both large artworks, prints and gifts. Paxton+Glew aim to curate immersive exhibitions by emerging and established artists, bringing art to new audiences and celebrating the breadth and diversity in new contemporary art.
The gallery represent over 40 collectable artists selected by curators Emily Paxton and Pam Glew. Many of the gallery artists have a background in street art and graffiti, such as Eelus and Remi Rough, the gallery also represent more traditional contemporary painters such as Emily Kirby and Ruth Mulvie and many screenprinters including Dave Buonaguidi and Shuby. Whether you are looking for a large statement piece or an unusual gift, the gallery is a friendly oasis in the bustle of the lanes and are happy to help you choose a piece to perfectly fit your space.
The gallery have a reputation of curating unusual and interesting exhibitions, with a favour for small 3D works and models. Their curatorial debut was Urban Miniatures, which included an immersive model village diorama, which juxtaposed the nostalgia of model trains with Urban Art and Graffiti. Household names in the street, graffiti and contemporary art scene transformed a Hornby train set; from a church, high rise buildings to a Tesco, with running trains, within a miniature diorama scene. The show was covered by BBC South, The Guardian and the I newspaper.
The gallery has also produced a fun DIY model beach hut kit, which is popular with both artists and the general public alike. These models are inspired by the Hove Beach hut are available to buy from the gallery and via their website in 1:32 and 1:16 scales.
