Pied A Terre Adventures is a family-run West Sussex company providing exclusive, tailored walking, outdoor, and adventurous experiences throughout Great Britain.  We simply love the countryside and our absolute passion is to be able to share this with you. Whether you are preparing for a personal walking route or company team building day, maybe embarking on a charity challenge, looking for a way to develop your orienteering and map reading skills, or simply want to get a taste of the great outdoors on a walking holiday, we can support you on your adventure.  We pride ourselves on providing our guests with interesting locations to explore and offering a personal and high quality service. All of our guides and instructors are experts in their field, endlessly enthusiastic, incredibly knowledgeable and qualified to the highest level.

The company, which was co-founded by husband-and-wife team, Richard and Kirstie Betts, has over 10 years’ experience arranging walking adventures, courses and challenges in the UK and beyond. Having lived and worked in West Sussex throughout our lives, we have a huge knowledge and passion for the area, though our reach is limited only by how far you wish to explore.  All our experiences are aligned to meet our client’s needs – ranging from one-day self-guided hikes to multiday bespoke adventures, outdoor skills courses and personalised itineraries. All our experiences share a common thread, which is to showcase the best the local area can offer. We are proud of our partnerships with amazing local producers, accommodation providers, pubs, breweries and vineyards.  We are passionate about creating and providing inspirational, quality and sustainable walking adventures where our guests can escape and immerse themselves in the outdoors, have fun, learn, challenge themselves, and create lifelong memories.

Tea Room Walk

The perfect weekend treat. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon ramble around the glorious South Downs under the care and guidance of one of our experienced leaders. Then partake in a well deserved cream tea in a picture postcard Sussex village setting.

Enjoy an invigorating countryside afternoon ramble in the company of a local knowledgeable guide and soak up the views, fascinating heritage and beauty of the South Downs.  After your glorious guided walk, reward yourself by relaxing in a delightful tea room nestled within a picture postcard Sussex village, and enjoy a delicious cream tea; the perfect British treat to accompany a day out in stunning surroundings.

Your walk is led by an extremely experienced and qualified outdoor guide, who can enlighten you on the trail about the fascinating geology, heritage and natural history of the area. With extensive local knowledge, your guide can enable you to explore lesser known areas away from the beaten track and discover hidden gems. They are a fully qualified International Mountain Leader who has a great deal of experience leading and instructing and also has extensive local knowledge having lived in this area for many years.

Sisters At Sunset Walk

This popular twilight stroll visits the Seven Sisters at a most tranquil time of the day. Enjoy the stunning colours across the Channel as the sun sets to behind the cliffs to the west.  Watch and listen for wildlife and pause for a moment to immerse yourself in the beauty and peace of this idyllic spot.  Reflections, uninterrupted sky and twilight hues can be dramatic - so don't forget your camera.

Your walk is led by an extremely experienced and qualified outdoor guide, who can enlighten you on the trail about the fascinating geology, heritage and natural history of the area. With extensive local knowledge, your guide can enable you to explore lesser known areas away from the beaten track and discover hidden gems. They are a fully qualified International Mountain Leader who has a great deal of experience leading and instructing and also has extensive local knowledge having lived in this area for many years.

Wild Meadows and Wine Guided Walk

Set your senses free - enjoy this fun full-day guided walking experience which includes a delicious locally sourced picnic accompanied with wine from the district. With your expert local guide leading the way, explore our diverse habitats and quaint villages learning the area’s fascinating history. Enjoy the fresh air, savour your picnic and marvel at the stunning Sussex views within the South Downs National Park. Your route will take you through the stunning Arun Valley where you will have the opportunity to explore and learn about wetland habitats and the wildlife there. South Downs river valleys are a wonderful place to find waterfowl and water mammals. The meadows surrounding these valleys are rich in flora and fauna and home to many rare and internationally important species. You will pass through SSSIs (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and enjoy the tranquility of a riverside stroll.

Your day includes a locally sourced picnic and wine tasting from local producers. With the South Downs, stunning waterways and vibrant meadows surrounding you - what better location could there be for a picnic lunch. Learn all about the fascinating backgrounds and stories of the food and drink you are enjoying and their producers.

Seven Sisters Guided Walking Experience

This inspirational guided walk takes in some of the most iconic landmarks and stunning landscape in the South of England - where the South Downs meets the sea.  Your tour also includes a locally sourced picnic and wine tasting from the district.

Step back in time to a natural world where smugglers sneaked their contraband inland on this inspiring walking adventure on an iconic section of the Sussex coast. With your expert local, qualified guide leading the way, explore diverse habitats and quaint villages learning the area’s fascinating history dating back to the Domesday book. Enjoy the fresh sea air, savour your locally sourced picnic with wine tasting while marvelling at the stunning Sussex coastal views within the South Downs National Park. Your route will take you through an area popular with smugglers, folklore and a diverse natural wildlife habitat ranging from forest, chalk downland and the seashore.

Your route reveals vista after vista - from the graceful meanders and stunning shoreline of the Cuckmere Haven, the famous undulations and dramatic cliffs of the Seven Sisters, historic landmarks at Birling Gap, Belle Tout and Beachy Head lighthouses and the delightful seaside town of Eastbourne in the distance.
