Homeward Bound Festival
Homeward Bound is taking place at sites across The Living Coast on the 2 & 3 October 2021. It’s a celebration of the fishing and maritime industries, as well as the region’s rich folk music tradition and ocean-bound cultural heritage.
Raise your pint as you sway to rousing sea shanties, savour a hot-buttered mackerel bun or a serving of salty fresh scallops as you wander along the promenade. Discover unexpected sea life in chalky-white rockpools, spot the unusual plants and wildlife that thrive in the saltmarshes, on the wind-swept shingle and beneath the waves, and learn how this unique natural environment has shaped local traditions, crafts and livelihoods. … This is a festival of culture and nature for the whole family!
There’ll be live music and fine-dining opportunities, and sea-themed talks, exhibitions and events presented by passionate individuals, local businesses, charities and community groups. We’ll be celebrating, learning and tapping our toes at pubs, on the pier, on harbour walls, in the waves and on the beaches all along the coast between Shoreham and Newhaven.
