Sunday in the Park with Jazz

Charlotte Glasson presents the 6th annual Sunday in the Park with Jazz. Both bands performing are based in Brighton, and play original music, incorporating lots of different styles under the jazz umbrella.

First up this year is Hilary Burts Blue Calluna offering an exuberant, life-affirming set. Hilarys music has elements of Jazz and Folk, with a twist of Latin, and a sprinkle of Pop, blending vocals, saxes and flutes with piano, bass, drums and percussion. Featuring: Hilary Burt (composer, arranger, alto sax, flute); Lucy Pickering (vocals, flute); Kate Hogg (alto sax, flute, bansuri flute, pennywhistle); Beccy Rork (tenor sax, soprano sax, flute); Tom Phelan (keyboards); Richard Leney (bass); Alex Eberhard (drums, guitar, vocals); Chris Stockel (percussion, drums).

Second up, the award-winning multi-instrumentalist composer, Charlotte Glasson brings her colourful sounds to BOAT. The band have performed all over the UK including London Jazz Festival, Birmingham Jazz Festival, Marlborough Jazz Festival, Love Supreme, the Jazz Cafe and Ronnie Scotts. Featuring: Charlotte Glasson (saxes, flutes, violin and saw); Mark Bassey (trombone); Chris Spedding (guitar); Chris Kibble (keyboards); Mick Hutton (bass); and Sam Glasson (drums). Charlotte has released seven CDs with her band and also plays in The Brighton Beach Boys.

"If youve ever wondered what smiles sound like, this is it" Hot Press, Ireland.

"If you could bottle this bands music, how wonderful it would be to inhale it to start every day", Express and Star, Lichfield.
