If you’re thinking of ways to celebrate Mother’s Day this year, may we humbly suggest a trip to Brighton? There are plenty of ways to treat your mum: book a trip to the theatre; a treatment at a spa; afternoon tea (combined with a bus tour if you’d like!); a delicious lunch or dinner or simply wander The Lanes and North Laine and browse the shops.

There are also lots of special events taking place; see below for our round up of some of the best ways to say thank you to your mum this year…

Food & Drink

Hilton Brighton Metropole

If you can't pull out all the stops on Mother’s Day, when can you? Book a table in the stunning dining room of 1890 At The Met, where all mums will be greeted with a glass of fizz before a sumptuous Sunday Jazz Lunch feast. Each mum will take a little gift away with her at the end too.

The Walrus

The Walrus are also celebrating Mother’s Day with a Sunday Roast and to show their appreciation for everything our mums do, each one will leave with a gift bag packed with treats at the end.

Ashdown Park Hotel

If your mum would prefer afternoon tea, book a table for Champagne Afternoon Tea in the beautiful surroundings of the Drawing Rooms at Ashdown Park Hotel. Your afternoon will start with a glass of Champagne, followed by finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, a selection of homemade cakes and pastries from the patisserie, as well as your choice of blended teas, freshly ground coffee or hot chocolate. Or book a table at the award-winning Anderida Restaurant for a family lunch. Enjoy a delicious three-course meal, complete with coffee and petit fours, while listening to the soothing accompaniment of the resident pianist. A children’s menu is available and at both events, each mum will receive a gorgeous Molton Brown gift.

Days out

Explorer Pass

Book an Explorer Pass and you could save up to 35% at the city's top all-weather attractions. The passes are valid for 30 days from first redemption and can be booked online. They include the British Airways i360; Sea Life Brighton and the Royal Pavilion, so whatever the weather you can keep the whole family entertained!

As if that's not enough Sea Life are also offering Mums Go Free for Mother's Day! Just quote 'MGF' to redeem free entry (with 1 full paying adult).

Bolney Wine Estate

Treat your mum to a Vineyard Tour this year. Bolney will be adding a 'sweet treat' tasting plate paired with their award-winning wines on the Taster Tour, or book an Afternoon Tea tour.

Borde Hill Garden

Say thank you to your mum by treating her to a special guided tour of Borde Hill Garden between 11.30am and 12.15pm. Enjoy colourful displays of camellias, rhododendrons and spring bulbs as you explore the 17-acre formal Garden. Afterwards, indulge in a vintage tea served inside the delightful marquee. Sit back and spend precious time together whilst enjoying a glass of fizz, followed by a delicious assortment of finger sandwiches, scones and mouth-watering pastries, plus a small treat for every mum to take home. Advance booking required. Tours are free with Garden admission and are only available on the day. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Stephen Jones Hats

Hat-maker to the stars, Stephen Jones OBE, has taken over the Royal Pavilion in a dazzling new exhibition, showcasing some of his most famous designs. The Royal Pavilion has long been an inspiration to Jones and many of his hats reflect the wonderful, whimsical, radical nature of the building, specifically his Spring/Summer 2012 collection Chinoiserie-on-Sea. Alongside these, see hats worn by everyone from Boy George and Lady Gaga to Diana, Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex.

Vintage Brighton

Have a shopping trip with a difference at Brighton Dome, where on Sunday 31st March you’ll find up to 30 hand-picked vintage and vintage-inspired traders showcasing wonderful fashion, jewellery, accessories and homewares. There will also be some Art Deco items, books and collectables available, plus live music, a tea party and hair salon.

British Airways i360

Book a family flight on British Airways i360 and upgrade your mum’s ticket to include a glass of sparkling wine and some gifts from the gift shop. Alternatively, book a Sunday Roast package and enjoy a delicious three-course lunch at West Beach Bar & Kitchen after your flight. Every mum will also receive a free bunch of daffodils!

The Painting Pottery Café

Celebrate your mum and all she does for you this Mother’s Day by spending a couple of hours painting pottery together. The Painting Pottery Café will provide a complimentary hot drink and cake for mum whilst you paint and you’ll not only spend some quality time together, you’ll have a painted memento of the day when you pick your pottery up a week later. If you can’t make that Sunday, buy a gift voucher in-shop or over the phone so you can come back on a day that suits you.
