Seafront

If you’re visiting the beach, then don’t be surprised if all that fresh sea air makes you hungry! But fear not – no matter where you are on the seafront, you’re never far from a restaurant, café or takeaway outlet offering all kinds of mouth-watering treats.

Between Brighton Palace Pier and the West Pier is where you’ll find the most choice of what to eat, as well as art and photography galleries, and independent shops selling fabulous cool gifts, beachwear and beach gear, and of course, souvenirs. On this stretch of beach you’ll find eating options to suit all budgets and tastebuds, from burgers, fish and chips and ice cream to high-end seafood restaurants and more. This is also a great area to walk along and soak up those happy beach vibes, stopping to watch live music, street performances, beach volleyball and basketball.

The indoor food market Shelter Hall, opposite the bottom of West Street, has seven independent kitchens all under one roof. There are plenty of takeaway options on Brighton Palace Pier, as well as the light and airy Palm Court restaurant, a great place for all the family. You’ll find plenty more places to eat and drink all the way along the seafront to Brighton Bandstand. Wherever you end up, you couldn’t be in a better place to sit and stare at the sea, or indulge in a bit of people-watching while enjoying a coffee and a pastry! But if you’re prepared to explore further, there’s more to be found further up and down the beach…

If you keep walking west towards Hove, you’ll pass more alfresco cafés at various intervals, plus a much-loved ice cream parlour, until you eventually come to stylish restaurant and bar, Rockwater, which offers indoor and outdoor seating. Towards the end of the promenade you’ll find Hove Lagoon, where you can eat inside or outside the café or get takeaway. And if you want to buy fresh fish to take home with you, there’s a popular fish wholesalers just beyond the Lagoon.

Heading back along the seafront in the other direction towards Kemptown, there are more eateries on the other side of Brighton Palace Pier. And, if you’re happy to take a ten minute stroll towards the Peter Pan children’s playground, you’ll find another cluster of fun-looking places with a distinctly beachy feel at Yellowave Beach Sports Café and Bison Beach Bar at Sea Lanes.

Shelter Hall

Shelter Hall is a re-imagined food hall unlike any other, serving non-stop originality and curated menus to the people of Brighton. Located directly on Brighton seafront between the iconic Palace and West piers and just a ten-minute walk from Brighton station.
