Earlier this month The Grand launched a new Grill dinner menu for their Victoria Terrace so we decided to check it out.

The sumptuous surroundings of the Victoria Terrace are usually the setting for Afternoon Tea so it felt like a real treat to be heading down there for an evening meal for a change (the above professional photo is the daytime set-up but I wanted you to see how lovely the room is). Luckily for us it was a gorgeous sunny evening so we had a spectacular view as well.

Once we were settled into our seats it was time to consult the menu. To start with I decided to try the Pea & Mint Soup (photo above) whereas Richard went for Tiger Prawn Cocktail (photo below). As for the main course I was tempted by the Bacon Chop or the Sussex Steak but as we were there on National Burger Day we decided it had to be the Wagyu Beef Burger with fries.

I'm going to sound like a hypocrite here as I really like the fact that the drinks menu is actually a suggested pairing menu, however even though we were both having the burger (photo below)and the recommened pairing was a Belgian beer we actually ended up having red wine instead!

I took the above photo on the night we were there but as you can tell I was too impatient to start eating to actually wait and get a decent shot! So here is a professional photo of the Waygu Beef Burger...

The Victoria Terrace was a lovely, relaxing setting for dinner and a great spot for watching the sunset. The food was delicious, head chef Alan White has carefully sourced the ingredients and you really can taste the quality. If I can cheekily adapt a certain high street brand's tagline I'd say - this was no ordinary burger, this was a Grand burger. I should also add that my starter was very tasty too, I wouldn't normally pick soup as a summer starter but the Pea & Mint was a light & refreshing start to the meal.

Sadly we didn't have room for dessert but that just means we have a good excuse to go back! So if you are looking for somewhere different to go for a relaxing summer evening meal then we can definitely recommend the Grill menu at The Grand.

The Grill menu is available Monday - Sunday 7-10pm.
