Recently, we were excited to be approached by ITV productions about a new detective series being filmed in Brighton starring John Simm as Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, entitled Grace and based on the novels by Peter James. They wanted an authentic property to film a murder scene and decided on our own Eaton Place, a period property in the Kemp Town district. Our Corporate Property Sales Consultant Sarah Wolley Dod organised the booking and liaised with the crew to film over a week.

The scene was set and the weather on the “murder” day was both rainy and gloomy, not great for the crew but perfect for filming! The actors were also seen out and about in various street locations, including Sydney Street which is around the corner from Best of Brighton office. The local shopkeepers enjoyed watching the cast spend the day browsing the various shops and stalls and all Covid related signs were asked to be removed as thankfully the series is not set in Covid times. On that particular day John Simm had to eat a sandwich each time they filmed him walking down the Street so he had to get through a lot of sandwiches.

There’s never a dull moment in the vibrant city of Brighton!
