Larger shops are not permitted to open on Easter Sunday. Other than that most shops, restaurants and attractions will be open. The city is usually busy over Easter. The opening times of the smaller, independent shops are up to the discretion of the individual owners but most are open over the holidays. Most businesses and attractions close early on Christmas Eve (24 Dec) and public transport also finishes earlier than usual. There is no public transport on Christmas Day (25 Dec). On Christmas Day all attractions and the vast majority of shops and restaurants will be closed; some pre-booked hotel restaurants will be open for a traditional Christmas lunch. On Boxing Day there is very limited public transport but some more restaurants and shops will be open, as are usually the Brighton Palace Pier and Sea Life Brighton. There are no official public fireworks in Brighton & Hove on New Year’s Eve, although you sometimes see local residents letting of fireworks from their back gardens or the seafront.What events are on in Brighton this year?
