We've decided to get to know some of our local business partners a bit better - and today we speak to Lyndsey Clay from Connected Brighton...
What is the best thing about your work?
Seeing the connections, friendships and relationships made through our events. Our social club audience are typically new to the city and I love watching their social circle grow so that they feel at home here. Supporting local businesses is in my blood, that is the heart of the brand and I love getting to feel part of the Brighton business scene. Ultimately being a force for good in my hometown feels amazing.
What is your average day like, or is it never average?
It’s never average! I spend time nurturing our Business Club community, hosting social events, writing newsletters, chatting to my team about the latest city news and networking to spread the word about all the good things we do. Then there are the private and PR parties we plan and attend too. It’s never dull!
What would you like to be doing as an alternative career?
I already have one! I have my own coaching and mentoring business (www.lyndseyclay.com) where I help starting out, struggling or stuck business owners grow their personal brand visibility and increase their confidence. That’s how I have grown my business and I love to help others succeed too.
What is next for you and your business?
We are growing into other cities with a licence model, and developing a service for visitors to help guide them around the city, like a concierge in your pocket, so that they see everything we have to offer here in Brighton & Hove and want to come back!
What do you like most about Brighton and what is the best thing you like to do in the city?
I love how walkable the city is, how green it is, that we have the beach and how friendly people are because they love living here. It gets cooler here all the time! I love kayaking between the piers (we do it every year as an event), seeing the city from the water is amazing and going through the Brighton Palace Pier is a beautiful experience. Followed by lunch at Lucky Beach and a Lagarita at The Tempest!
Thank you!
