When considering a visit to Brighton there are a few things you need to Know Before You Go...
General advice:
- Hands. Face. Space.
Keep washing your hands and using sanitiser. Wear a face mask indoors and on public transport. Remember social distancing, keep 2 metres away from people not in your household or social bubble.
- Plan ahead - contact businesses directly to confirm opening details and new operating procedures.
- Visit the Brighton & Hove City Council website for practical information including facilities, lifeguards and travelling around the city.
- Bring your contactless card - many outlets are only accepting cashless payments.
- Travel to the city - The Key Smartcard is a great option for minimising social contact when travelling by train. Southern will send it to your home, you can buy your ticket online, then just tap the key card and go.

Respect. Protect. Enjoy.
After months of lockdown we know people are keen to get outdoors and enjoy our beautiful beaches and stunning countryside but please help us to keep these areas as popular places to visit:
- Check before you leave - what facilities are available? Don't get caught short! Brighton & Hove City Council lists details of public toilet facilities
- Litter - There are rubbish & recycling bins across the city but if the facilities are full then please take your rubbish home with you. Keep Brighton Beautiful.
- Beaches - we have 8 miles of beachfront so if you arrive at a section of beach that looks full please walk along to another section so that you can still keep 2 metres away from people outside of your household.
Give Space. Keep Safe.
- If you are tempted to go for a swim please check the Tide Timetables and follow Sea Safety guidelines.
- The safest ways to get around our city and countryside are walking or cycling but if you are using public transport please wear a face covering.
- Remeber to carry hand sanitiser with you at all times and use it regularly.
- Barbecues are not allowed on the beaches or in the countryside. Pack a picnic or order a delicious takeaway from one of our food & drink partners - many restaurants have now introduced Click & Collect.
