In September the Heritage Open Days offer visitors a chance to celebrate our history & culture, and several Brighton & Hove venues will be taking part with opportunities to get a sneak peek behind the scenes of some of our iconic buildings.

There are over 50 Heritage Open Days events taking place across Brighton & Hove from 11 - 20 September so to help you get started we've highlighted a few of them below. Although before we begin we would like to give an extra special mention to the team at the Regency Town House as in addition to the events happening at their own venue, they have also organised a lot of the other walks, talks & tours. Thank you!

The Regency Town House Tour

Step back in time and join curator Nick Tyson for a tour of this Grade I listed 1820s terraced house. As well as this tour this stunning Regency property will be the venue for several talks & workshops during the Heritage Open Days. If you're planning on going to a few of them why not book a stay at MyHolidayLet Brighton apartment conveniently located on Brunswick Square?

Explore Brighton Dome through the lives of those who have worked here for more than two centuries. From stable hands to stage technicians, nurses to record promoters, join us in celebrating the people whose work has kept our remarkable building alive. If you're planning a longer stay, then check out our City Break itinerary which includes Brighton Dome.

St Bartholomew's Church

Drop-in to St Bartholomew's Church and discover a masterpiece of brickwork providing a moment of calm in the centre of bonkers Brighton! After visiting the church we recommend dropping down to London Road to explore Brighton Open Market, an indoor market full of independent traders. Brighton Toy & Model Museum Tours

The delightfully quirky Toy & Model Museum is tucked away in an arch underneath Brighton Station and offers visitors a chance to relive their childhood. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to join a tour & hear fascinating stories that bring the collection to life.

Nice Girls didn't go to the Academy!

Meet at the Duke of York's Picturehouse and then join The Usherette as she leads you through the city on a tour evoking the Golden Age of the Silver Screen. The walk ends at Pinello which was formerly the Pandora Gallery, where the first films to be shown outside London were screened in 1896. Today Pinello is a Mediterranean restaurant making it the perfect place to refuel after all those steps!

Friends Meeting House Open Day

Visit the Brighton Friends Meeting House in The Lanes and discover the long and fascinating history of the Quakers. There will be a variety of old Quaker documents, books, pictures and artefacts on display.

Fabrica & Holy Trinity Tour

While today Fabrica is a cultural venue and a space where everyone can take part in the arts, this tour allows visitors to learn the secrets of the building's architectural & social history, and discover the impact of leading figures across the ages.

Behind the Scenes at Sussex County Cricket Club

Sussex have played at the ground in Eaton Road since 1871, after acquiring the land from the Trustees of the Stanford Estate. The first county match was played at Eaton Road on 6 June 1872 against Gloucestershire, when WG Grace was amongst the opposition. Join a behind-the-scenes tour that will include the award winning Sussex Cricket Museum and other areas you don’t normally get to see.

We hope you enjoy discovering the city's history & heritage. To find more Heritage Open Days events in Brighton & Hove go to the Heritage Open Days website. Why not use Brighton as a base to experience Sussex Heritage Open Day with events happening in East Sussex and West Sussex too?
