About

Join Sussex Voiceworks for an enjoyable and welcoming afternoon exploring John Rutters beautiful and uplifting Requiem.

Guided by our Musical Director and accompanist, singers will spend the afternoon rehearsing this much-loved choral work in the friendly surroundings of Southwick Methodist Church. Free refreshments will be provided during the breaks, with time to socialise and meet other singers.

ABOUT RUTTERS REQUIEM

Written in 1985, Rutters Requiem combines words from the traditional Latin Requiem Mass with psalms and biblical texts in English. The music moves between sorrow and consolation, darkness and light, with memorable passages including Pie Jesu, Sanctus, Out of the Deep, The Lord is my Shepherd and Lux Aeterna. Although it explores grief and remembrance, its lasting message is one of hope, comfort and peace.

The afternoon will conclude with an informal performance from 6.006.30pm, which family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
