About
A comic exploration of grief, DELUGE takes audiences on a surreal and heartfelt journey through loss. Inspired by a break-up and over 40 interviews gathered via a social media call-out, this one-woman show combines together theatre, physicality, clowning, original music, and projection to examine how we navigate mourning and the ways it reshapes us.
In the wake of a relationship, a woman tries to contain the overflow of her thoughts... She ends up stuck in a ladder, and fighting up against Komodo dragons, house leaks, holes and jam jars- that only seem to multiply.
Deluge puts a magic realist spin on dealing with and overcoming grief. Blurring imagination with real stories by invoking a surreal, tender and humorous dreamscape.
"Flarys’s intense physicality and irresistible charm draw you into the flood... Her impish humour cuts through the sadness and emphasises the absurdity of grief." ★★★★ British Theatre Guide
"Incredibly beautifully written, with effortless alternation between comedy and horror." ★★★★ Spy in the Stalls
"Very artsy, very meaningful and, yes, replete with expressive dance. And I am totally absorbed." ★★★★½ Bouquets and Brickbats
"An absurd, tender, and life-affirming piece that leaves a lasting impression... I was astounded at Flarys’ broad-ranging vocal and physical abilities." ★★★★½ A Young(ish) Perspective
RUNS: Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th, at 5pm, at Rotunda Theatre (Bubble - Regency Square, BN1 2FG)
