Join Dreamy Place and Oska Bright Film Festival for a special outdoor film trail through central Brighton celebrating queer lives, identities and experiences.

Films will be projected onto walls and buildings around the city as we guide audiences on a leisurely walk through central Brighton. Selected from Oska Bright Film Festival’s Queer Freedom strand, the programme brings together five short films exploring queer identity, love, self-expression and freedom.

Queer Freedom celebrates LGBTQIA+ stories at the intersection of queerness and disability. Oska Bright is the world’s leading film festival for films made by or featuring learning disabled and autistic people.

Meeting point: Outside Food for Friends, opposite Zizzi, Prince Albert Street, Brighton BN1 1HF.

Emily Burke — I Would Like to Live on the Moon (2023), 2:13 mins

A lovely animation about wanting to be alone, but also about wanting to be in love.

Sophie Jayne Doyle — Turing (2025), 4:12 mins

A reflective short based on the life of Alan Turing and his arrest in 1952, narrated by Stephen Fry and underscored by a recording of his ‘Bombe’ Enigma machine.

Danny Smith — Finding Trixie (2025), 4:22 mins

Danny Smith plays with different aspects of his personality through his drag alter ego Trixie Pixie in a dance-for-camera piece.

Violet Brew — Clara (2025), 5:14 mins

On the day of an anti-trans protest, a young transgender woman debates the decision to put on make-up for the first time, taking her on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance.

Penn Bálint — Soviet Fantasia (2025), 8:11 mins

A surreal exploration of queer identity in the face of immigration, following teenager Hajnal as they grapple with leaving their post-Soviet country for a new life in England.

What to expect
The film trail takes place outdoors and on foot, with films projected onto walls and buildings around central Brighton. The pace will be leisurely.

Accessibility
The film trail is a short tour around Brighton's streets, all wheelchair accessible, lasting approximately 45 minutes.

Films will all have captions.
