Struggling with eating out during Veganuary? Welcome to Brighton & Hove, one of the most vegan friendly cities in the UK. As Veganism has been core to our culture for so long, we are old hands at making plant based mouth-watering dishes, from fine dining to burgers and shakes that will satisfy all your cravings, read on to find our top picks.

Terre a Terre

Having produced some of the best UK vegan and vegetarian plates, you know that Terre a Terre are always a good option for a plant-based meal out. Head here for a romantic meal or birthday celebration, and you will be wowed by their creative, unique, and delicious dishes.

The Vurger Co.

Craving a juicy burger packed with all the extras? Let us introduce you to Vurger. Co, 100% vegan, deliciousness means you will struggle to tell this is not meat. My favourite is the New York Melt, beyond meat burgers sandwiched between cheese, gherkins, and burger sauce, yum.

Bill’s

Bill’s has always reigned high in Brighton brunch royalty, with some amazing vegan plates all year round. This January they are adding OGGs to their menu, a plant-based egg alternative, the first egg alternative in the world in fact to be made from chickpea protein, perfect to replace your usual scrambled eggs.

Happy Maki

A staple in the VisitBrighton office for the vegans, veggies, and carnivores alike, Happy Maki’s vegan sushi rolls are divine and guaranteed to fill you up with all the good stuff. The sides are amazing too although you may have to share (even though you won’t want to!)

Curry Leaf

Named one of the best 12 Indian restaurants in Britain by BBC Good Food Magazine, Curry Leaf serves a fabulous range of authentic vegan curries, plus did we mention they have award winning craft beers to accompany your dish of choice? Oh, and they do national delivery if you’re not in the city, so no-one misses out!

Burnt Orange

Offering some wonderful, small tasting plates, a relaxed atmosphere and reputation worthy cocktails, Burnt Orange is the perfect spot to sit, chill and enjoy amazing food and company.

Nostos

Serving fresh, authentic Greek food has always been the ethos of this Hove favourite, but if you haven’t tried their vegan menu, what are you waiting for? The Dolmadakia and Moussake are our favourite combo, although there is plenty of choice, so you won’t be limited.

BeSaucy

If you can’t be in the city to try our gorgeous vegan grub, why not order in? Brighton’s best kept saucy secret comes in a jar. There are several options available, but if you have not tried their vegan black truffle mayo, you are missing out. Whether your veganism is just for January or the long term, you’ll be re-ordering sharpish!

Lost in the Lanes

With an all-day vegan breakfast that will make your mouth water, Lost in the Lanes offers a great range of vegan choices in a super cool, relaxed setting. The perfect spot to relax after some shopping, this is our go to for a tasty treat.

The No Catch Co.

We know people love having fish 'n' chips by the seaside and thanks to the No Catch Co. you still can! As well as the signature tofish they also serve smoked haddock, prawns and calamri which is all 100% vegan.

We hope this gives you a flavour for what’s available on the Brighton food scene, but this is just the tip of the iceberg (see what we did there?!) find out more on our Food & Drink page
