The Women's Rugby World Cup is returning to England and we are thrilled to be one of the host cities!
The tournament is running from 22nd August to 27th September and two games will take place at Brighton & Hove Community Stadium:
🏉 Saturday 6 September: England v Australia (kick-off 5pm)
🏉 Sunday 7 September: New Zealand v Ireland (kick-off 2.45pm)
We know that those of you who were lucky enough to get tickets are going to have a fantastic time as #ThisEnergyNeverStops. The rest of us can still enjoy the tournament as Brighton & Hove will have an official, free Fan Zone at Victoria Gardens. As well as screening the matches the Fan Zone will include a Brighton Gin bar and local food vendors; DJs, live music and lots more fun activities for all the family.
Make a break of it!
The matches are taking place over a weekend so whether you're heading up to the stadium or the Fan Zone why not extend your stay and make a break of it? Here's our suggestions of things to see and do...
Boho Gelato
A trip to the seaside would not be complete without an ice-cream but of course this is Brighton and we do things differently here. Forget about the traditional soft serve, head to Boho Gelato where all the ice creams are made fresh on site using Sussex milk. The creative team are planning some new creations with flavours inspired by the nations playing over the weekend. We can't wait to see what they come up with!
Maldron Hotel
Book your weekend stay at Maldron Brighton and join in with their Rugby World Cup celebrations. Over the weekend the matches will be screened in the bar & lounge where you can sip on their special-edition rugby-themed cocktails. Plus, if you were lucky enough to get a match ticket, flash it at the bar for 15% off selected drinks.
Royal Pavilion
Excitement for the tournament started last year when the Royal Pavilion was bathed in gold light to officially start the 1-year countdown to the big event. Over the tournament weekend why not explore more colours before the matches start with a trip to the Royal Pavilion's COLOUR - a must-see exploration of the power and beauty of colour.
Komedia Comedy Club
The tournament tagline is #ThisEnergyNeverStops and this is true for the city as well as there is still plenty of fun to be had after the final whistle blows. Head to Komedia for their legendary comedy club as this is the place to see the comedy stars of tomorrow.
Brighton i360
When the Rugby World Cup trophy arrived in Brighton it was treated to a bird's eye view of the city, coast and countryside. Take a break from the matches and glide 450ft in a giant glass pod to experience 360° of pure joy!
Flarewave Festival
The energy never stops in this city as in addition to hosting a major tournament, Brighton will also be welcoming the return of Flarewave Festival, a deaf-led Arts festival celebrating creativity. The programme is varied with highlights including Deaf Mosaic - a photography exhibition on the seafront; a special BSL tour and re-enactment of an important moment in deaf history; a Deaf Rave at the Corn Exchange and a special yoga session at Yoga in the Lanes.
