Three women ballet dancing

About

Project Female and Varndean College present: Days, Purpose, Otherwise - a triple bill of work by Project Female Dance Company, Project Flux and Varndean College Dance.

The Purpose. Ellie Bishop-Williams, Lottie Barton and Pip Sayers

Can a woman ever truly find her purpose uninterrupted?

A raw and fearless exploration of the unseen forces that shape — and sometimes sabotage — a woman’s journey toward her fullest potential. From the quiet drip of beauty standards to the blunt force of sexism, The Purpose moves between imagined worlds where anything is possible and the gritty realities that pull those dreams back to earth.

Imagining Otherwise. Flexer & Sandiland

Originally made for Flexer & Sandiland, Imagining Otherwise explores parallel experiences and stories through movement and digital floor projections. Shaped by the dancers’ actions, the projections evoke shifting organic landscapes, highlighting mark-making and our impact on each other and the environment. The dancers form a moving ecology, continually responding to one another and the projected space. Imagining Otherwise asks whether we can reimagine our world, our narratives, and those of others, existing together in simultaneity.

Letting The Days Go By. Chess Dillon-Reams & Lisa Watkin-Stevens in collaboration with the performers
This dance theatre work explores female archetypes and the complex role of women in shaping ideas of ‘home’. Through movement and character, the piece asks what makes a home and who has the power to define it, examining domesticity through a feminist lens. Performers embody diverse aspects of the feminine experience, challenging traditional notions of gender, power, and belonging.
