About
Award-winning Mock the Week regular and ex-NHS worker, Angela Barnes brings razor-sharp stand-up and brilliantly funny stories to the stage as part of a multi-comic night supporting NHS hospitals in Sussex.
Angela Barnes swapped a career in health and social care for stand up in 2010 and hasn’t looked back. Within just a couple of years she had won the BBC New Comedy Award in 2011 and has since toured the UK and starred in BBC Two’s iconic 21 series Mock the Week as a regular, as well as Live at the Apollo, and Hypothetical on Dave.
She is a firm favourite on BBC Radio 4, having featured on The Now Show and The News Quiz – including a recent stint as the host, she also hosted BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Newsjack. Angela co-hosted the less-than-serious popular podcast We Are History, which has just teamed up with Podmasters, with John O’Farrell. Six series strong and with over a million downloads, the two history nerds discuss, explain, and laugh at interesting and quirky episodes from the olden days.
This is a multi-comic night, with Angela being joined by two of the very best of local Brighton talent.
Being a London kid who was the first black guy at an all-white boarding school, Anthony Ayton has a unique and hilarious perspective on life which he weaves skilfully with plenty of very funny jokes, getting big laughs with all types of audience.
Joe Foster is a stand-up comedian from Brighton with a sharp, dry wit and likeable persona which has established him as a firm favourite with audiences around the country. In 2015 Joe won the Fosters South Coast Comedian Of The Year Competition which cemented his reputation as one of the fresh new voices on UK comedy circuit and he has since established himself on the comedy circuit.
Plus compere Guy Lloyd.
