About

Forthwrite Festival, the UK’s first and only literary festival dedicated to celebrating women writers over 50, is back for a second year, bringing a wide range of topical workshops, panel discussions, and film screenings to Brighton.

Join us at Jubilee Library for a morning of inspiring workshops with best selling authors and industry professionals.

After lunch, head over to the Old Courtroom at 2pm for a rousing opening address from Lesley Kara, followed by an engaging discussion on writing from experience with Holly Dawson, Diana Anyakwo, Priscilla Morris, chaired by Uju Asika, with personal stories and practical advice. Then we dive into an exploration of post 50 success, hosted by author Kathleen Whyman, alongside writers Marcia Hutchinson and Ivy Ngeow, and agent Lisa Highton. They’ll discuss how to take ownership of your talent, embrace your unique voice, and stand tall in the literary spotlight.

After a break we will welcome you back at 6.30pm for a Q&A with screenwriter Suhayla El Bushra and a screening of her film Brides.
