About
This exhibition presents Giwei’s recent body of work centred on oil painting as her primary medium. Four recurring themes run throughout the exhibition: myth, homeland, lovers, and wandering. In Brighton, the latest station in the artist’s itinerant journey, she continues to paint en plein air among white cliffs, harbours, and valleys. Frequently working with palette knives, she translates fleeting conditions of light, wind, and sea into tactile, materially charged surfaces
