About
Gaudete! is the expanded Christmas show from GreenMatthews, the duo of Chris Green and Sophie Matthews, who have been delighting audiences with their seasonal programmes for over a decade. This time they bring a full ensemble: Emily Baines on early woodwinds and Richard Heacock on violin join them for brand new arrangements of favourite carols, winter folk songs and lively dance tunes.
The programme travels from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century, and the instruments are as much a part of the show as the music. Expect bagpipes, shawms, hurdy-gurdy, mandocello and more, all played with warmth, skill and a good dose of humour.
Rich, lush and heartwarming, Gaudete! is a riot of sound and colour that suits families, folk fans and anyone who loves their Christmas music with a bit of history and a lot of character.
