Hove: Beginners Calligraphy Full Day

This full-day taster workshop gives you the chance to try both pointed nib and brush pen using a range of types and colours so you can see which you enjoy the most and explore the various effects that can be achieved with each.

Focusing on pointed nib in the morning,  working through our carefully structured worksheets, you will create letterforms using coloured inks and metallics. You will work onto beautiful templates, created by Kirsten Burke and create finished pieces that you can be proud of. There are many different ways of creating calligraphy and sometimes knowing where to start can be tricky but with our demonstrations and guidance, you will soon be creating your own fantastic original designs/artwork.

After lunch, you will start your journey with brush pen calligraphy. Using many different varieties and colours, you will soon realise which are your favourites enabling you to create colourful, charming and vibrant calligraphy.  Creating your own style and enjoying the process is what it's all about. Maisie will share many tips and tricks with you and is on hand to troubleshoot any issues you may come across.

We have a small shop at our studio, stocking some of our favourite calligraphy supplies, including the items you will have used during your workshop, so that you can buy your favourites and continue your calligraphy journey at home!

Refreshments are provided on arrival. We would advise bringing a packed lunch however, Portland Road is a short walk away and is full of cafes and stores where you can purchase food/drink.
