Jungle Harpies and African Vistas

About

Brighton artists unite 50 years of tattooing and painting in live-gallery exhibition.

Husband and wife artists Seth and Inma Vila Solfire announce the opening of Jungle Harpies and African Vistas, a deeply personal multi-disciplinary exhibition opening on Tuesday, October 13th at the historic Regency Town House.

Spanning painting, storytelling, and live performance, the exhibition explores origins, rituals, and human transformation. The collection brings together two distinct artistic visions born from family life and a shared five-decade legacy in the tattooing industry—the craft that originally brought the couple
together.

- Jungle Harpies by Inma is a tribute to family, female strength, and the delicate beauty of birds, inspired by classical folklore around harpies.

- African Vistas by Seth draws on his South African upbringing, utilizing intricate geometric forms and abstract compositions to explore rhythm, movement, and connection.

At the core of the exhibition is an exploration of the "mark"—how humans use patterns and symbols to communicate identity. Blurring the line between fine art and living ritual, the gallery will host live tattooing sessions throughout the event, turning the physical act of marking the body into a
witnessed, communal artwork.

The exhibition also features a rare retrospective celebrating the couple's combined 50-year careers in tattooing, tracing a journey from individual craftsmanship to their life today as collaborative artists and parents.
