It stands now in the centre of the city and is Brighton's oldest church, originally built in the 11th C. It has survived fire, flood and invasion and in its churchyard lie some of the most fascinating characters from Brighton's past - a man who saved a king from capture, a woman who dipped a prince in the sea, an Indian enterpeneur that popularised shampoo and curry in Britain and washed the king's hair.
