About
This small, secluded site was recently featured in The Guardian's Saturday Magazine as one of '20 best campsites in the UK' and also made it into Time Out's roundup of sites to visit. It's in a magical location, hidden from view, enfolded by the Downs, close to the footpath from Firle Beacon on the South Downs Way. There’s loads to visit, eat and do within easy walking distance, making it the perfect spot to while away a couple of days.
This year The Fold is available only for exclusive hire for groups. Campfires are allowed, hammocks are available and there's a sheltered seating area with a huge copper gypsy kettle for tea and hot water bottles. Hosts Stella and Griff will put up tents for you, cook supper and even do bacon, eggs, coffee and pastries for you in the morning. The crystal-clear drinking water is piped straight from a nearby borehole on the Estate, to the powerful hot showers and sinks.
Found on the Firle Estate The Fold is approached by car along the Old Coach Road. Campers park and then ferry their gear up a farm track using big wheelbarrows.
