Woodfire Camping, known for fabulous food cooked over fire and for coining the term ‘gastro-camping’, has taken over a hitherto unused 400 year old barn on the Firle Estate, near Lewes, to stage a magical series of delicious winter Feasts cooked over flame.

Inspired by a traditional British shooting lunch — but reimagined for today — this is a six course celebration of sustainable local game, wild venison and winter vegetables, cooked over flame and served lit by flickering fire against the dark backdrop of the ancient South Downs hills. Logs will crackle, tables glow and glasses catch the light while the wine (or AFs!) and conversation flows. Our Feasts will celebrate the season, countryside traditions and the craft of good hospitality.

Arrive in the crisp country air to the scent of woodsmoke, outdoor fires and the soft warmth of a winter cocktail. As dusk settles beyond the South Downs, you step into a centuries-old Sussex barn alive with the glow of open flames. Long tables set for communal feasting. Fires crackling. Glasses raised.

Local English sparkling wine, beers from Burning Sky Brewery, and a specially curated list of sustainable wines and winter cocktails will be available from the bar.

Guests are welcome to linger after the Feast for star-gazing and marshmallow-toasting around the outdoor fires.
