About

Just a short bus ride from the centre of Brighton, come and discover the glorious, sparkly world of Velvet, your next favourite shop. A fabulous two-floor independent store close to the seafront in Hove, full of wonderful fashion, homeware and lifestyle products.

They are a dedicated, passionate and lovely team, committed to offering you the warmest of welcomes, the very best customer service and ready to find you that perfect outfit for the weekend or that ideal gift for someone you love.

A little history on velvet...

Emma Draper founded the business 23 years ago in a little shop in North Laine, Brighton with her Mum Iris. They moved around the city a few times but have been very happy in their current home in the heart of Hove for the past 15 years. They have over 2500 sq ft of carefully curated products over two fabulous floors.

A brilliant team of 16 remarkable women work alongside Emma, with Gemma, the Managing Director looking after all aspects of everyday Velvet life, and in particular there growing social media presence.

They are also a family affair, with Emma’s amazing 81-year-old mum, Iris handling bookkeeping and serving as Emma’s inspiration.

The whole team's enduring dedication and mutual support make Velvet a real collaborative enterprise.
