About

New Zealand artist Aldous Harding is set to return to the stage this year with a massive live tour spanning three continents, ahead of her new album

Hannah Harding, better known by her nom de plume Aldous Harding has had her gothic indie folk music compared to influences as diverse and unique as Kate Bush, Scott Walker and Nico. Growing up in the town of Lyttelton near Christchurch in New Zealand in a family of musicians, Harding was involved in recording music from a young age, appearing on her folk-singer-mother’s records, writing music and performing backing vocals for traveling string band The Eastern. However it was when she was spotted busking by the musician Anika Moe, who on the spur of the moment invited the young busker to open for her at her show that night, that Harding got her break.

In 2012 Harding changed her first name to Aldous and started work on what would become her critically acclaimed first album. After extensive touring she followed up with a record on the British independent record label 4AD, and with the help of PJ Harvey’s producer John Parish, created her sophomore album, Party, which was nominated for Album of the Year at the New Zealand Music Awards in 2017. After completing a 100 date tour, she worked again with John Parish to create the album Designer, which included the APRA Music Award-winning single “The Barrel.” Her fourth full length release, Warm Chris saw her develop an ever more collaborative approach and grew her fanbase further still.

Now she returns with a huge live tour spanning three continents in support of her brand new fifth album. Her first live shows since 2023, the tour will start this May in the UK and Ireland, traverses Europe in the summer and concludes in North America in October.
