About
Join us at Fitzroy Lewes for a unique opportunity to spend an intimate evening with an international opera star, and learn about Verdis heroines through the eyes of one of their greatest interpreters.
Dame Josephine Barstow is recognised as one of the worlds leading singing actresses. During a long career she performed in most of the worlds major opera houses and with many of the great conductors singing a varied repertoire of Verdi Richard Strauss Puccini and Jancek among others. Compere Keith Cooper is a former member of the Royal Opera, English National Opera, and Opera North.
The first half of the evening will feature Dame Barstow in conversation with Keith Cooper, discussing her approach to operas greatest roles. After an intermission, gain a richer insight as Dame Barstow leads a masterclass with a young rising star in Verdis most famous soprano role: Violetta from La Traviata.
