Join us at Fitzroy Lewes for a unique opportunity to spend an intimate evening with an international opera star, and learn about Verdi's heroines through the eyes of one of their greatest interpreters.

Dame Josephine Barstow is recognised as one of the world's leading singing actresses. During a long career she performed in most of the world's major opera houses and with many of the great conductors singing a varied repertoire of Verdi, Richard Strauss, Puccini and Janacek among others. Compere Keith Cooper is a former member of the Royal Opera, English National Opera, and Opera North.

The first half of the evening will feature Dame Barstow in conversation with Keith Cooper, discussing her approach to opera's greatest roles. After an intermission, gain a richer insight as Dame Barstow leads a masterclass with a young rising star in Verdi's most famous soprano role: Violetta from La Traviata.

Tickets for all our events are offered on a sliding scale, with General Admission tickets capped at 15 for the most expensive events. We also offer a limited number of Open Doors tickets capped at 5 to ensure that our events are accessible to those on lower incomes (sorry if these are no longer available for your chosen event). Pay It Forward tickets are for those who can afford to give a little more, supporting artistic experiences for the local community by subsidising lower ticket prices for all.
