Minds Eye Promotions Eastbourne welcomes Belgian Quartet- Balkavik, who are stopping by Eastbourne on their current UK tour for what looks to be a very special evening. Support TBA.
(pronounced BAL-kah-veek), a quartet founded in 2021 by Brussels-based pianist Victor Abel, consisting of violinist Frédéric Gairard, accordionist Romain Karsenty, and double bassist Antoine Maes.
Their energetic instrumental music blends Transylvanian, Moldavian, and Bulgarian traditions with influences from jazz, funk, and musette, creating a unique soundscape described as a mix of tender and virtuoso, tradition and crossbreeding, like a dreamlike universe where Tim Burton meets mir Kusturica.
