About
What does it mean to be English in the twenty-first century and who gets to decide? In this inspiring and provocative talk, Caroline Lucas introduces her acclaimed new book England: How to Reclaim Our National Story, described as a passionate call for an inclusive, hopeful patriotism.
At a time when the language of nationhood is too often captured by anger and nostalgia, Lucas asks how we might tell England's story differently as one rooted in kindness, fairness and care for both people and planet. Drawing on history, literature and her own years in Parliament, she reimagines national identity not as something to defend, but as something to share and renew: a living story shaped by England's creativity, diversity and deep democratic tradition.
With the insight of a campaigner and the conviction of a storyteller, Lucas offers a bold, unifying vision of a country that can once again take pride in its values not its divisions.
Caroline Lucas is the UKs first and only Green Party MP, representing Brighton Pavilion since 2010, and has twice served as leader of the Green Party of England and Wales. She is widely recognised as one of the most influential voices on environmental issues, democracy and social justice, and has been named Politician of the Year by The Observer and The Independent.
A Q&A Session will follow.
