About

Join us for a day-long workshop where you will create a unique, painted garden journal inspired by the iconic house and garden at Charleston.

Our day of journaling begins with a guided tour of the historic Charleston house, rich with artistic heritage, bold patterns and expressive colour. This will provide the creative context for your journal, as you gather visual inspiration from the interiors and artworks.

Next, we will step into Charleston's walled garden to begin journaling in nature. Here you will collect sketches, patterns, observations and photographs focusing on the botanical details and seasonal beauty that speaks to you. Through guided exercises, Shilpa will help you develop your eye, deepen your attention and discover personal connections.

After a lunch break, we will bring all our notes and sketches together and start creating mini, four-page garden journals. Using watercolour, ink and pencil, you will transform your impressions into a beautifully crafted, expressive keepsake.

The workshop includes an exclusive tour of the modernist home and studio at Charleston, providing a glimpse into its rich artistic history, along with all the materials you'll need to bring your creations to life.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day, including a delicious lunch made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
