About
Charleston Festival marks the centenary of the publication of 'Mrs Dalloway' with an electrifying, multi-artform event blending music, readings and contemporary responses.
Inhabiting a fragmented and layered reality, 'Mrs Dalloway' weaves a lifetime of memories, regrets and desires into a single day. In today's fractured world, Woolf's dazzling exploration of alienation and intimacy feels as urgent as ever.
100 years to the day from publication, Caleb Azumah Nelson, Edmund de Waal and Deborah Levy take 'Mrs Dalloway' as the inspiration for three new pieces of work, while Chineke! Chamber Orchestra perform Florence B. Price's 'String Quartet No. 1 in G Major' and movements from Max Richter's 'Woolf Works', accompanied by readings from the novel.
