About
Greening Steyning are excited to have Sir Jonathon Porritt CBE as our guest speaker at Green Drinks in October. He is one of Britain's most eminent environmental campaigners, with more than fifty years at the heart of the green movement as former Director of Friends of the Earth, Co-Chair of the Green Party, co-founder of the sustainability charity Forum for the Future, and long-standing personal adviser to King Charles III on environmental matters.
His latest book, "Love, Anger & Betrayal"*, co-authored with twenty-six young Just Stop Oil campaigners, is a passionate call to action on the climate emergency. It focuses on the theme of intergenerational justice, and the future we are leaving our children and grandchildren to inherit. Its a daunting topic. But the theme for his talk is an optimistic one - Facing the Future: Reasons to be Hopeful.
With a young peoples perspective in mind, we are delighted to be teaming up with Steyning Grammar School, who have kindly offered their drama hall to host the event. We hope to have a strong and vocal student presence in the audience.
Itll be an interactive discussion, not a lecture. So come prepared to contribute, to be challenged, and to be inspired by one our countrys most eminent environmental campaigners.
* Signed copies of the book will be on sale on the night. Or they can be ordered from Steyning Bookshop.
