About
Understanding whether Mars was once able to support life has been a major driving force for Mars research over the past 50 years. To decipher the planets ancient climate and habitability, researchers look to the rock record a physical record of ancient surface processes which reflect the environment and the prevailing climate at the time the rocks were deposited. In this talk, Dr Steven Banham will discuss his work exploring the surface of Mars - from operational challenges, to the science of analysing rocks remotely. And answering the big questions; was their life on Mars?
Dr Steven Banham [https://profiles.imperial.ac.uk/s.banham/about] is a Advanced Research Fellow at Imperial College. He actively participates on Mars Curiosity Rover operations, with particular focus on investigating the depositional environments in the Gale crater on Mars.
